The Evolution room has a variety of plants that are among the oldest categories of plants on Earth. The conservatory has a collection of horsetail (Equisetales) that date back far enough to call the plant a living fossil. To learn more about ferns, visit here.
Cycads, below, represent an evolutionary link between ferns and flowering plants. These ancient plants were extremely common in the Jurassic period, but are in decline today.
